Pendragons Dragon Boat Club

New members welcome to try dragon boating with pendragons

We offer free training sessions to be taken within 28 days

You do not need to have experience in a dragon boat.

You will be required to register as a Temporary Member using Dragon Pass,  which provides a 28 day free membership. Before you register, please email us at registrar4pdbc@gmail.com and we will confirm when our next come and try days are scheduled. The Dragon Pass commences the day you register and cannot be extended.

Our trial dragon boat sessions are held on the Nepean River, Bruce Neale Drive

or

Sydney International Regatta Centre, Castlereagh Rd, Penrith Lakes.

(We meet under the "breezeway" between the boat-sheds on the island)

This Olympic class venue provides paddlers with showers, toilets and ample parking. Few clubs ever have the opportunity to paddle at a venue of this quality and the Pendragons are the envy of others.

  •  If you can't swim 50 metres in light clothing you will need to wear a life jacket which we can provide.
  • Accredited sweeps will keep you in a straight line and experienced coaches will ensure that you are applying the correct stroke technique so you can enjoy paddling safely
  • We suggest you don't eat a heavy meal just prior to paddling
  • Boats and paddles are provided

What to Bring

  • Water - 500ml to 1 litre - bring it on the boat (no glass)
  • Rash shirt/T shirt/Singlet/thermals - on cold days/spray jacket - on wet days
  • Aqua shoes/old joggers. Bare feet is not advised as the floor of the boat can get very slippery
  • Hat/Sunglasses/Sunscreen
  • Change of clothes - this is a water sport, you will probably get wet!
  • A sense of adventure and humour is a must!

recommendations

"I'd never heard of Dragon Boating till a few weeks ago... Yesterday, I attended my second try out with the Pendragons at Nepean Rowing Club. It is SUCH a good workout! 💪😆 If you wanna give something new a try, get in contact with Jane through their Facebook page They are offering the first FIVE training sessions/lessons for FREE! The Pendragons are a super inviting, encouraging and supportive group of people. Afterwards, we hang at the Rowing Club for a (well deserved) coffee or beer. It's hard yakka, but if I can do it, just about anyone can - Lauren McLean

Thankyou to the wonderful group of people who welcomed me at this mornings paddle. I enjoyed every minute of it and I can’t wait to come back and try again !! Kim Hogan
